Member of the Australian College of Health Informatics

To be eligible for admission to the College as a Member, a person must:

  1. Have made a measurable contribution and/or have capacity for contribution to the field of Health Informatics; and
  2. Have a minimum of three years practical experience in Health Informatics (excluding time spent as an undergraduate student), or have completed a degree in Health Informatics or equivalent (e.g., a degree by research with a thesis of relevance to Health Informatics); and
  3. Be an ethical user of health information, demonstrate professional integrity and have their academic documentation verified and accepted;
  4. Be approved by the ACHI Council.

An application for admission to the College as a Member must:

  • Be made in writing (or electronically) using this form accompanied by the entrance fee ($20)
  • Be lodged with the secretary of the College who will refer the application to the Council within four (4) weeks.
  • This Council will determine the suitability and approval or rejection of an application in accordance with the criteria provided.
  • The applicant will be notified of the approval for membership in writing together with a request for the annual subscription payment due within 28 days after receipt of the notification ($150).
  • An approved applicant for Member is entitled to exercise the rights of membership once his or her name is entered in the register of Members and annual fees are duly paid. Such rights are not transferable to another person.
  • If an application is rejected by the Council following peer-review assessment against the membership criteria, the applicant will be notified in writing as soon as practicable and within one month of submission to the Council.
