Institution:
University of Waterloo

The Waterloo Institute for Health Informatics Research (WIHIR) is a trans-disciplinary collaboration that focuses its efforts on research into new Health Informatics (HI) interventions (concepts, techniques, tools, systems and methods) that enable information, information management, and information and communications technologies to deliver the greatest possible value in the health system.

A related focus of WIHIR is the application of advanced HI interventions in pilot/proof of concept settings. In addressing the challenge of developing new HI interventions, WIHIR brings to bear expertise and insights from the Bio-Health/Life and Physical Sciences, Computing and Mathematics, Engineering, the Management Sciences, and Social Sciences. A direct effect of the institute will be the development of highly qualified personnel grounded in specific disciplines, but capable of making significant contributions to the advancement of the health system
